Love Month

Today is the first day of the Month of February , most of us called this Love Month. Well, its because of Valentine`s Day, derived from the name of St. Valentine.

According to history Valentine was a priest who served during the 3rd century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II ordered that single men made better soldiers than those who are married. He prohibited the marriage for young men. Valentine realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine`s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that Valentine be put to death. He was martyred by doing this action and made known to the world.

The celebration of Love is not just Valentine`s Day. Everyday should be an act of celebrating love. Wether we are married, engage, single, old and young , we are called to celebrate love in our everyday life.

Dear friends, let us love one another because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son to the world, so that we might have life through him. The command that Christ has given us is this: Whoever loves God must love others also. ( 1 John 7-10, 21).
