Gynecologic problems(PCOS)

First I would like to give you an overview of what is PCOS? Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder that results from abnormal levels of certain hormones. Women with PCOS may have irregular or no menstrual periods. PCOS can cause health problems in women but it can be treated.

Why I come out to post this in my blogs? As one of the women diagnosed with PCOS it may help other women who have the same problem as mine. I have this problem since I was a teenager . Way back in my teen age life I always have to visit OBGYNE to check my monthly period and also to avoid some complications, as doctors said women should have at least once a year thorough examinations in our reproductive systems if we are having irregular periods. In my early years some OBGYNE said I have Hormonal Imbalance, they would prescribe me a pill that regulate my hormones, it goes on and on, it just a cycle. I may have period for few months but after it will be gone for almost 3-4 months and if I had it, it was heavy flow and I am almost hospitalized because it was not stopping for a months or so. So it was the history.

Now that I relocated here in USA get married and was planning to have a child we visited OB Gyne and had a thorough examinations. I undergo 2 types of Ultra sound , have different blood samples for Thyroid, Hormones, undergo Biopsy to test cancer cells, good thing it was negative. The doctor exactly figured out what kind of problems I have and this is PCOS but suggested me to test my Insulin level, to check if I am diabetis. PCOS have other complications if it is not properly treated and women might be prone for diabetis and high blood pressure and cancer.

As the doctors advised I check my insulin levels, glucose tolerance, and some other tests. I found only I was really prone for diabetis, I am not diabetic for now , but I am on the borderline of having diabetis if I did not follow a healthy diet.

I have to cut carbohydrates, and have to maintain my sugar level. I need to maintain healthy diet and exercise. PCOS is common for women . We should only knew how to deal with it to avoid complications and any serious problems.

We are incharge and liable for our own health, so we must visit doctors even at least once a year.

My day to day tasks now is have my diet plan, do exercise even I don`t feel like doing it. Check sugar levels and be aware of my eating habits. Pregnancy is still possible for women with PCOS it maybe risky but still capable for child bearing.

With proper treatment,PCOS can be managed and PCOS can be relieved. Change of lifestyle is necessary to conquer this kind of disorders.
