Hello, we`ve our 11am AOS Interview in USCIS Detroit earlier this morning. We were interviewed by the lady officer, the interview lasted 15 minutes and it is just a casual interview. My husband and I were together in one room before the interview starts we had our " Sworn Testimony, or as we called the famous oath. As the interview goes we were asked this following questions.
- Where did we meet?
- When and where we got married?
- What is our address here in U.S?( you have to memorized your address including your house no. and zipcode.)
- What is my maiden name?
- What is my birth date?
- My husband was asked about my parents name, he happened to forgot my father`s name, he just said he can`t remember my father`s name because he never meet him because he died when I was 6 years old, he just said my mom`s name(may she rest in peace), so I answer my father`s name for him.
- She looked for my gov`t issued ID, my passport, my AP document, my EAD card and my state ID.
- She then asked me again where and when I used my AP, what`s the reason why I left U.S. last June 5,`09.I explained to her that my mom passed away because of Vehicular accident, so I need to go home and wan`t to see my mom for the last time. I almost teary eyes when I was saying that. The officer felt sorry about what she heard from my mom. He asked my husband if he is with me, he explained that I was just alone because he already consumed the vacation before my mom died. I tried to compose myself not to break into tears when I remember that.
- Lady Officer asked me the questions stated in the form I-485-part3, .
- Lastly she showed my signature in my I-485, and confirm if it`s my signature, I said yes, that`s my signature.
For the supporting documents/evidences we just showed our wedding photos and she enjoyed browsing our mini album that I prepared with 36 shots including our latest photo 1 week ago. In fairness she like my wedding gown and really admired it, she asked me where did I buy that gown?I told her it was sewn from my home country(Philippines). My husband also tell stories that in my home country we can`t fit the wedding gown because it brings bad luck. So, she said, good thing, the gown fit on me even it was almost month before we get married. I just explained that the couturier got my measurement and she personally sew it for me. I thanked her for liking my wedding gown. After that I handed our joint bank account, copy of my health insurance as dependent of my husband. Then she told me, she won`t return my AP and my EAD card becuse I won`t use it anymore.
Regarding my sealed envelop for my Vaccination she didn`t bother getting it, but I presented it in case she only forgot then she asked where did I got the civil surgeon name; I said it was from the local civil surgeon locator from USCIS homepage. I asked her if she needs more evidence, she said we`re fine our evidences was enough.
She stop for awhile and printed something in her computer and handed it to us after, she let us signed in one page of bond paper, with two identical copies lengthwise and said, "Congratulations" your AOS has been approved and I can get my Greencard by mail soon. My husband and I, let her signed in that paper stating that I have to file for Removing of Conditions, 90 days before my GC expired. I requested her if I can have stamped in my passport , she said two weeks ago they are stamping the passport because during that time they have problem in card production. The officer told me that I can just wait for my GC by mail soon.
The lady officer was so nice to us, after our interview we talk few things not about the Immigration status, after that short talk the lady officer accompanied us going out the hallway, then greeted us again have a nice day and we greeted her back as well. It was a light warming interview.
Thank you, Lord for always guiding us and for my VJ family, thanks again for always answering my queries. We owe you a lot for our K-1 process. We can sit back now and relax for 2 years from our Immigration status.
