Few days ago I was with my friend she accompanied me in clarifying some inquiries about my immigration status here in United States. There was a guy in front of us talking to a woman and they keep on exchanging words about their adventures and travels around the world. He talked so loud and it happend that I heard about what they were talking. The guy said to a lady “ I traveled in different countries and I was able to visit Japan, Hongkong, Thailand, China and he said that these Asian countries were nice and good”; he said again I also visited “ Philippines”,you know what? “I don`t like that country they are sucks ; not good country he said.” I don`t know if that guy was just intimidating me . He knew I am a Filipina and he knew that I can hear what was he will be saying but he does'`t care. Deep inside I was hurt hearing that words makes me mad and feel irritated. I am a Filipino and I am proud of my country and I take pride of my nationality. Yes, Philippines are belong in the "third world countries" but that was trademark associated in the Philippines long time ago. Philippines now are one of the developing countries in Asia and as such Filipinos are known to the world because of our natural resources and our being hospitable. Not just that we have talented Filipinos alll over the world who keep on showing their versatiliy and was admired all over the world especially here in United States.
Now that I am here in United States for Marriage and Relocation I deeply miss Philippines. My realization was Philippines are still the best country I would ever live. We might have some economic crises but still I love being a Filipino. Physically I am not in the Philippines now but in my heart and soul I will always remember how I was raised to be a good Filipino citizen.
